Resident at the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana continues its successful path under the baton of Markus Poschner, Principal Conductor since 2015, amidst enthusiastic public and critical acclaim in the major theatres and halls throughout Europe, from the Golden Hall of the Musikve- rein in Vienna to the Philharmonie in Berlin, from the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg to the Kölner Philharmonie in Cologne. As of 2022, the new Principal Guest Conductor is Krzysztof Urbański, who succeeded Vladimir Ashkenazy in this role. Two main festivals regularly feature the Orchestra in Lugano: “OSI al LAC” from autumn to spring in the Sala Teatro of the LAC, and “OSI in Auditorio” in the Orchestra’s historic home, the Auditorio Stelio Molo RSI in Lugano Besso. Added to this is the innovative ‘be connected’ format, with special events and concerts to intrigue new audiences. In addition to Poschner (with whom he received the important international ICMA recording award in 2018) and Urbański, the OSI collaborates with several other internationally renowned conductors and soloists, including pianist Martha Argerich and cellist Sol Gabetta.
