Orchestra Bottesini – Crema
The ‘Orchestra Bottesini’ project was created to create an orchestra named after one of the greatest composers and conductors of the 19th century, Giovanni Bottesini, who took Italian musical culture all over the world in a career spanning more than fifty years, going so far as to conduct the premiere of Aida in Cairo in 1871. A pioneer and true citizen of the world, Bottesini can therefore be a source of inspiration for many young musicians who aspire to excel in their career. Indeed, the Bottesini Association has been working for years to support and develop young musical talents. The Giovanni Bottesini Orchestra consists of professors carefully selected by music director Enrico Fagone, with the best young talents on the international scene. In addition, the new ensemble will work on the recovery of a little-known repertoire of Italian composers of undisputed value such as Cavalli, Bottesini, Martucci, Cherubini, Clementi, Finzi and many others. The 9th edition of the Bottesini Con- course will then see the finalists accompanied by the Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Fagone, at the final concert on 27 October 2024.
