Concert by the Guardia di Finanza Music Band

The Guardia di Finanza brass band was officially founded in 1926, bringing together in a single instrumental ensemble the various fanfares that had been established in the Corps’ many departments since 1883. Today, it is a stable artistic ensemble composed of 102 elements from various Italian conservatories and carefully selected through public competition. During its long and intense concert activity, the Band has performed in the most prestigious Italian musical institutions, such as the National Academy of Santa Cecilia, La Scala in Milan, the San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Massimo in Palermo, the Fenice in Venice, the Massimo Bellini in Catania, the Petruzzelli in Bari and the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo. The concerts it has performed for years in the Basilica of Maxentius in Rome are historic. The Banda del Corpo has collaborated on several occasions with some of the most renowned Italian and international symphony orchestras, such as the RAI Orchestra in Rome, the MaggioMusicale Fiorentino Orchestra – with which it performed in 1991 in a world-vision concert conducted by Zubin Metha – and the Spoleto Festival of the Two Worlds, with which, together with the Washington Choir, it participated in 1993 in the Festival’s closing concert – also broadcast world-wide – conducted by Steven Mercurio. Abroad, the band toured Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium and France. In 2001, 2002 and 2007, it was invited to New York for the Columbus Day celebrations. In 2002, she gave an acclaimed concert at Ground Zero, a symbolic place of American national consciousness. In November2005, it enjoyed extraordinary success in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Since 2002, it has been directed by Mae- stro, Colonel Leonardo Laserra Ingrosso.
