Angels and Demons in Art

Ethereal figures such as angels are common in art, and not only in sacred art. The representation of demons is rarer, or so it would seem, but only if we refer to the horned and frightening figures we have in our imagination. There is almost a sacred terror in painting, sculpting, or even thinking about representing creatures that have rebelled against God. In the reality of art history, however, the idea of diabolical evil often exists in the guise of symbolism and characters considered to be children of evil.

The visit to the Cagnola Collection includes a series of works, not only paintings, in which we can observe different angels, but also demons in the guise of symbolism and tradition, thus allowing for a particular explanation of this intriguing, but also philosophical and artistic, subject.
At the end, as usual, tea and cakes will be served in the dining room of the “Il Conte” restaurant.
